Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Database Administrator to join our team and play a pivotal role in maintaining our legacy systems while supporting modernization efforts.


This role will focus on the administration of MS SQL 2016 and above, with a strong emphasis on installation, performance tuning, clustering, and availability groups.

Responsibilities

  • Specify and size new servers to meet system requirements
  • Install, configure, and upgrade SQL Server software and related products
  • Apply SQL patches promptly to maintain up-to-date systems
  • Monitor and maintain database system health and availability, resolving downtime issues efficiently
  • Implement and oversee security measures, ensuring the principle of least privilege
  • Evaluate and ensure backup solutions meet current RTO and RPO objectives
  • Analyze and address server and database performance through techniques like index maintenance and consistency checks
  • Oversee log usage and restore lower-level environments from production backups as needed
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors for applying patches and installing systems
  • Support performance issue resolution for SQL Server products alongside other teams
  • Provide assistance to non-IT teams for resolving programming issues related to SQL Server
  • Address DBA-related tickets through the Service Desk
  • Maintain and support MDS, SSAS, SSIS, SSRS, and Power BI environments
  • Automate processes to minimize workload

Requirements

  • Microsoft certification in SQL Server preferred
  • 3+ years of experience working with MS SQL Server 2016 or higher
  • Expertise in Columnstore, Query Store, Extended Events, and Partitioning
  • Strong skills in performance tuning, query execution plan diagnosis, and wait statistics analysis
  • Background in clustering and managing multi-site availability groups
  • Proficiency in using backup tools such as Cohesity and CommVault for availability groups
  • Competency in T-SQL and PowerShell for automating DBA practices
  • Familiarity with SCOM and ITIL documentation standards
  • Upper-Intermediate English language proficiency (B2)

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
