Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled MongoDB Administrator to join our team and play an integral role in managing and optimizing our MongoDB environments. As a vital part of our IT operations, you will be responsible for ensuring the performance, reliability, and scalability of our database infrastructure while supporting critical business initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Perform MongoDB software installations and standalone database configurations
- Set up and manage MongoDB replica sets to ensure high availability
- Conduct backup, restoration, and disaster recovery (DR) testing activities for MongoDB
- Execute switchover and failover operations to maintain service continuity
- Add or remove nodes in a MongoDB cluster with zero downtime
- Convert standalone environments to replica set environments and vice versa
- Utilize and manage multiple MongoDB GUI interfaces for effective database administration
- Refresh MongoDB databases from production to non-production environments
- Implement high availability (HA) solutions for MongoDB to minimize system downtime
- Oversee user authentication, role-based access, and overall user management
- Optimize production server disk usage and performance
- Review and create indexes for optimal database query performance
- Apply expertise with geo-spatial databases and implement change streams in MongoDB
- Refresh MS-SQL databases as needed for cross-platform database integration and maintenance
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as a MongoDB administrator
- Hands-on experience with MongoDB replica setup, upgrade activities, and DR testing
- Proficiency in backup and restoration processes for MongoDB environments
- Capability to execute MongoDB switchover and failover activities with zero downtime
- Knowledge of database optimization techniques, including disk optimization and indexing
- Background in user authentication, role management, and database security protocols
- Familiarity with MongoDB Atlas and multi-environment database refresh processes
- Skills in the use of geo-spatial databases and implementing MongoDB change streams
- Understanding of converting database configurations (standalone to replica set and reverse)
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken, at a minimum B2 level
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Azure platforms and their database integration capabilities
- Background in managing cloud-based infrastructures for database systems
