Position Summary
KIND seeks a Temporary Legal Recruiter with a track record in hiring legal professionals focused on immigration law. The incumbent will help to source, shortlist, and interview high-caliber attorneys and paralegals across multiple jurisdictions. The Legal Recruiter will partner with colleagues in both Human Resources (HR) and Programs to ensure we find strong, mission-aligned legal talent.
The successful candidate is a highly motivated team player, a relationship builder, a critical thinker, and able to handle a busy workload.
This is a remote position based from any location in the US.
This position is contingent upon continued funding.
Essential Functions
- Conducts in-depth interviews to assess the depth of candidates’ technical experience and whether it is sufficient for KIND's demanding work.
- Equally, assesses candidate’s degree of resilience and broader competence to work in KIND’s challenging environment.
- Recommends candidates to Programs leadership for final interview.
- Helps build job descriptions and interview frameworks to support the recruitment and selection process, as needed.
- Cultivates a healthy talent pipeline by tapping into a broad candidate network.
- Works with HR colleagues to manage candidate communications, the offer process, and onboarding preparations, as needed.
- Manage other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience recruiting immigration attorneys.
- Experience interviewing paralegals is a plus.
- Familiarity with immigration-specific practice areas.
- Knowledge of hiring compliance and legal credential matters.
- Proficiency with ATS systems (e.g. Lever) and sourcing platforms is a plus.
- Passion for social justice, human rights, or public interest law.
- Must be fully fluent in English; fluency in Spanish is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with staff at all levels.
- Ability to manage multiple open legal roles simultaneously.
- Excellent discretion and ability to handle sensitive information with tact and diplomacy.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (such as Teams, Excel, etc.).
- Ability to work collaboratively and multi-task in our KIND environment, managing numerous priorities and emerging opportunities.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects in a deadline-oriented environment; ability to prioritize tasks and delegate as appropriate.
