Overview

We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator to manage and optimize our MS SQL environments, supporting both legacy systems and modernization initiatives.

This role focuses on the administration of MS SQL 2016 and newer, with a strong emphasis on T-SQL, installation, performance tuning, clustering and availability groups.

Responsibilities

  • Specify and size new servers in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Install, configure and upgrade SQL Server software and related products
  • Apply SQL patches as they become available
  • Monitor and maintain system health and database availability, resolving downtime efficiently
  • Maintain security access to servers and databases, upholding the principle of least privilege
  • Ensure backup solutions meet current RTO and RPO objectives
  • Oversee server and database performance, including index maintenance, consistency checks and log usage
  • Restore lower-level environments from production backups on both regular and ad hoc basis
  • Support third-party vendors during patch application or system installation
  • Collaborate with other teams to resolve SQL Server performance issues
  • Assist non-IT teams with programming challenges related to databases
  • Address DBA-related tickets from the service desk
  • Provide support for MDS, SSAS, SSIS, SSRS and Power BI environments as needed
  • Automate administrative tasks to minimize manual workload

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Database Administrator with MS SQL Server 2016 and newer
  • Expertise in T-SQL, installation, performance tuning and cluster/availability group administration
  • Knowledge of advanced SQL Server features such as Columnstore, querystore, extended events and partitioning
  • Skills in diagnosing query execution plans and analyzing wait statistics
  • Background in clustering and multi-site availability groups
  • Proficiency in Cohesity and CommVault SQL backups for availability groups
  • Capability to automate DBA practices using T-SQL and PowerShell
  • Familiarity with SCOM and ITIL documentation practices
  • Experience supporting MDS, SSAS, SSIS, SSRS and Power BI environments
  • English proficiency at B2 level or higher
