What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a Team Lead of Payments Operations to drive our payment strategy and lead a high-performing team consisting of Operations Specialists and Risk Prevention Managers. In this role, you will be the driving force behind our payment ecosystem, collaborating with Product and Tech teams. You will oversee the entire transaction lifecycle—from optimizing routing and cascading strategies to managing fraud prevention and risk mitigation. Your goal is to ensure a seamless, secure, and cost-effective payment experience while supporting the professional growth of your team and maintaining high-level relationships with global payment providers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, coach, and manage a team of Ops Specialists and Risk Prevention Managers; set clear goals, conduct performance reviews, and build a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Strategic goals management: Take ownership of billing performance indicators, including global approval rates, chargeback ratios, fraud rates, and processing costs.

  • Infrastructure Optimization: Oversee the design and implementation of scalable payment operational processes, including advanced routing, cascading logic, and intelligent retry strategies.

  • Risk & Fraud Oversight: Collaborate with the Risk Prevention Manager to refine anti-fraud rules, minimize chargebacks and fraud, and ensure a balance between high conversion and security.

  • Provider & Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary escalation point for payment providers; negotiate terms and manage high-level communication on system performance and ETAs.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Finance to align payment capabilities with business growth and product roadmaps.

  • Deep-Dive Analysis: Review and develop, in collaboration with the analytics team, comprehensive reports on payment flows and internal monitoring tools to identify systemic improvements and cost-reduction opportunities.

Required Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in online payments (Risk Prevention Manager, Ops Specialist, or similar), with experience in a leadership or supervisory role.

  • Advanced understanding of payment funnels, including SCA, payment cycle participants, and PayPal specialties.

  • Expertise in Risk Management: Solid knowledge of fraud prevention techniques and chargeback management.

  • Data Proficiency: Strong aptitude for numbers; advanced proficiency in Excel and experience interpreting complex transactional data sets.

  • Strategic Communication: Proven experience in managing relationships with international payment partners and internal executive stakeholders.

  • Operational Excellence: Demonstrated ability to build and document scalable processes from the ground up.

  • English proficiency: Upper-Intermediate

Nice to Have

  • Proficiency in SQL for independent data extraction and Tableau for dashboard creation.

  • Experience in the subscriptions industries.

  • Familiarity with interpreting technical logs and API documentation.
