Overview

We are seeking an accomplished Lead MongoDB Administrator to take on a lead position and spearhead the management and optimization of our MongoDB environments. As a key decision-maker and mentor within our team, you will take ownership of ensuring the performance, reliability, and scalability of our database infrastructure while driving strategic initiatives and providing guidance to junior staff.

Responsibilities

  • Lead MongoDB software installations, standalone database configurations, and troubleshooting efforts
  • Design, implement, and oversee MongoDB replica sets for robust high-availability architecture
  • Develop and execute comprehensive backup, restoration, and disaster recovery (DR) strategies for MongoDB environments
  • Coordinate and execute complex switchover and failover operations for seamless service delivery during critical events
  • Strategically plan and execute additions or removals of nodes within MongoDB clusters to ensure zero downtime
  • Manage the migration of configurations between standalone and replica set environments as needed
  • Oversee the use of multiple MongoDB GUI interfaces while mentoring others in best practices for database administration
  • Plan and execute MongoDB database refreshes across environments, enabling efficient development and testing workflows
  • Architect high-availability (HA) solutions for MongoDB, ensuring enterprise-grade resilience and minimal downtime
  • Supervise user authentication processes, role-based access, and comprehensive user management protocols
  • Optimize disk usage, memory allocation, and overall performance on production servers through advanced techniques
  • Analyze use cases and design optimized indexes to improve query performance across diverse workloads
  • Provide strategic implementation support for geo-spatial database applications and MongoDB change streams
  • Facilitate cross-platform database integration, including MS-SQL database refreshes, for project scalability and collaboration

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a MongoDB administrator
  • At least 1 year of relevant leadership experience
  • Extensive expertise in MongoDB replica setup, upgrades, and disaster recovery planning and execution
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing sophisticated backup and restoration processes for complex MongoDB setups
  • Demonstrated ability to manage switchover and failover activities efficiently with zero downtime
  • Deep knowledge of advanced database optimization techniques, including server performance tuning and indexing strategies
  • Strong background in supervising database security initiatives, user role management, and enterprise authentication protocols
  • Proficiency in MongoDB Atlas, cloud-based database solutions, and orchestrating multi-environment database refresh processes
  • Advanced skills in geo-spatial databases, change streams usage, and facilitating innovative data application strategies
  • Broad experience with environment transitions and database configurations, including migrations between standalone and replica modes
  • Excellent mentoring and team collaboration skills, with the ability to guide junior administrators effectively
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English (B2+ level)
