Overview

We are searching for an experienced Senior DBA & Cloud Migration Engineer to oversee complex database infrastructures and spearhead modernization and cloud migration projects. This position provides the chance to collaborate with advanced technologies, enhance essential data systems, and facilitate smooth transitions from on-premises to cloud solutions.

The role follows regular business hours. Weekend on-call support may be required. On-call duty typically occurs once per month, with a maximum of two occurrences per month.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, configure, and manage complex SQL Server environments, including AlwaysOn Availability Groups and Failover Clusters
  • Lead major version upgrades, migrations (On-Prem ↔ Cloud), patching cycles, and database consolidations
  • Configure and optimize HA/DR solutions, log shipping, replication, and backup strategies
  • Perform advanced performance tuning using execution plans, DMVs, extended events, profiler, and index tuning
  • Implement and validate robust backup and recovery strategies, troubleshoot restore failures
  • Perform capacity planning, growth forecasting, and recommend scalability improvements
  • Define and enforce security best practices, credential rotations, audit controls, and encryption standards
  • Support development teams with schema reviews, stored procedure optimization, and data lifecycle planning
  • Validate and execute complex deployments, participate in CABs, and ensure smooth release cycles
  • Develop and maintain standards, technical documentation, best practices, and architecture diagrams
  • Lead automation using PowerShell or Python and adopt cloud-based enhancements
  • Mentor L2 DBAs and act as technical escalation point for high-severity incidents

Requirements

  • 6+ years of extensive MS SQL Server DBA experience
  • Deep understanding of SQL Server internals, storage engine behavior, and indexing strategies
  • Strong expertise in AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Failover Clusters, log shipping, and replication
  • Expertise in performance tuning using execution plans, DMVs, indexing, and query optimization
  • Proficiency in backup tuning, recovery troubleshooting, and resolving high-severity incidents
  • Strong T-SQL development and scripting skills, preferably with PowerShell
  • Advanced Windows Server administration skills
  • Working knowledge of at least one additional RDBMS like Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL
  • Ability to lead production crisis calls and collaborate across global teams
  • English language proficiency at an Upper-Intermediate level (B2) or higher

Nice to have

  • Experience with cloud database platforms such as Azure SQL, Managed Instance, AWS RDS, or GCP Cloud SQL
  • Knowledge of Redgate tooling, replication enhancements, and automation frameworks
  • Familiarity with CI/CD integration for database changes
  • Knowledge of security standards like encryption, data masking, and auditing frameworks
  • Microsoft certifications such as MCSE or DP-300
