Overview

We are looking for a Senior Database Administrator to oversee and enhance our MS SQL environments, supporting both existing systems and modernization efforts.


This position centers on the management of MS SQL 2016 and newer, focusing on T-SQL, installation, performance optimization, clustering and availability groups.

Responsibilities

  • Define and size new servers in coordination with stakeholders
  • Install, configure and upgrade SQL Server software and related applications
  • Apply SQL patches as released
  • Monitor and ensure system health and database availability, addressing downtime effectively
  • Maintain secure access to servers and databases while adhering to the principle of least privilege
  • Ensure backup solutions align with current RTO and RPO benchmarks
  • Manage server and database performance, focusing on index maintenance, consistency checks and log usage
  • Restore lower-tier environments using production backups on both a planned and an as-needed basis
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors during patching or system integration
  • Work with other teams to address SQL Server performance bottlenecks
  • Assist non-technical teams in solving database-related programming issues
  • Resolve DBA-related service desk tickets
  • Support MDS, SSAS, SSIS, SSRS and Power BI environments when required
  • Automate routine administrative tasks to decrease manual workload

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience as a Database Administrator with MS SQL Server 2016 and newer
  • Expertise in T-SQL, installation, performance optimization and cluster/availability group management
  • Knowledge of advanced SQL Server functionalities such as Columnstore, querystore, extended events and partitioning
  • Skills in interpreting query execution plans and wait statistics analysis
  • Background in clustering and multi-site availability group setups
  • Proficiency in Cohesity and CommVault SQL backups for availability groups
  • Capability to automate DBA functions using T-SQL and PowerShell
  • Familiarity with SCOM and ITIL documentation standards
  • Experience supporting MDS, SSAS, SSIS, SSRS and Power BI environments
  • English language skills at B2 level or above
