Are you ready to unlock intelligence?

If you don’t think you meet all of the criteria below but are still interested in the job, please apply. Nobody checks every box - we’re looking for candidates that are particularly strong in a few areas, and have some interest and capabilities in others.

Kong is building the future of AI connectivity, empowering developers to connect, secure, and scale their applications with speed and intelligence. We are hiring a Product Manager, Billing to lead the product and systems work behind how Konnect makes money: entitlements, metering, checkout, invoicing, provisioning, and the enterprise and marketplace motions that surround them.

In this role you are the product owner of Konnect's commercial operating layer: the systems that translate what Sales sells and what customers use into what ends up on an invoice. That means plan and entitlement design, the usage metering pipeline, self-serve checkout and subscription lifecycle, customer organization and billing admin experiences, enterprise billing workflows (CPQ sync, custom contracts), and cloud marketplace billing. You will work hand-in-hand with Product Growth, Pricing & Packaging, Finance, GTM, Sales, and Engineering.

This role reports to the VP of Growth and sits at the intersection of two multi-year transformations: Kong's move from a single-product API gateway company into a multi-product enterprise, and Monetization's company-wide overhaul of pricing and packaging. The Billing, Provisioning, and Fulfillment program has historically been manual and relationship-driven. Your job is to turn it into a product, so Sales can sell more, Finance can bill more accurately, and customers get an experience that matches the quality of what they are paying for.

What You'll Own

  • Platform Vision: Set a multi-year direction for how Konnect prices, meters, entitles, and invoices. Decide what becomes shared platform capability versus what stays feature-specific, and sequence delivery so near-term work lands without creating long-term drag.

  • Unified Entitlements: Build the entitlements model that determines what every customer can access within Konnect. Make entitlements a first-class concept that is consistently defined in contracts, enforced in-product, honored by provisioning, and reflected in billing.

  • Pricing & Packaging Delivery: Act as the product and systems counterpart to Monetization. Translate pricing and packaging decisions into production reality: configuring plans, reshaping metering, updating contracts, coordinating customer migrations, and making sure a rollout doesn't disrupt existing revenue.

  • Metering & Usage Visibility: Run the event pipeline, aggregation layer, and reporting experiences that show customers what they consumed and what they are being charged. Hold a financial-grade bar on accuracy, auditability, and reconcilability.

  • Checkout & Subscription Lifecycle: Own how customers self-serve onto a plan, change plans, renew, lapse, and recover. That covers plan discovery, checkout, the underlying payments integration, subscription state, retries and dunning, and the admin surfaces where customers manage their own billing.

  • Enterprise & Marketplace Motions: Connect Kong's enterprise sales and channel motions to the billing stack: CPQ-to-entitlement sync, bespoke contract handling, invoice-based billing, and marketplace billing across AWS, GCP, and Azure as we expand our presence there.

  • Fulfillment Automation: Replace today's manual, high-touch provisioning and fulfillment processes with productized, automated workflows. This includes migrating off our current metering and billing system onto a target stack that supports the new pricing and packaging framework.

  • Outcomes & Measurement: Define the health metrics for the domain, including net revenue retention, billing-driven churn, invoice dispute rate, collections aging, and billing support ticket load. Use them to set priorities and hold the team accountable for results.

You'll Thrive in This Role If You

  • Have at least 8 years of product management experience in SaaS, with 2 or more spent directly in a billing, monetization, or pricing domain.

  • Can reason about the moving parts of a billing stack well enough to co-design the architecture with your engineering partner.

  • Have carried a pricing or packaging change from proposal through to production, including financial modeling, plan configuration, grandfathering logic, migrations, sales enablement, and customer communication.

  • Have built or scaled consumption-based monetization and understand the tradeoffs between simplicity, accuracy, and customer trust when metering drives the invoice.

  • Pull your own numbers when you need them (SQL, Snowflake, Hex, or equivalent) and use data to set priorities rather than to decorate decisions already made.

  • Have worked directly with Stripe or a metered billing platform (Metronome, Orb, OpenMeter), not through an engineer.

  • Hold billing surfaces (plan pages, checkouts, invoices, usage dashboards) to the same design standard as the rest of the product.

  • Have worked in or adjacent to API, infrastructure, or developer-platform products, and are comfortable with the technical context that comes with that territory.

  • Independently define and execute the long-term vision to bring billing, fulfillment, and provisioning to best-in-class for the company's success.

  • Bonus: You have led an end-to-end pricing transformation, or stood up a billing system from 0 to 1. You have shipped cloud marketplace integrations (AWS, GCP, Azure) or Salesforce CPQ ↔ billing integrations. You use LLMs and coding agents as part of your day-to-day PM workflow.
