We are looking for a creative, data‑driven Instructional Designer to build engaging learning experiences that drive performance across the organization. You will partner with subject‑matter experts, business leaders, and the broader L&D team to design, develop, and maintain e‑learning, instructor‑led, blended, and performance‑support solutions.

This position will be virtual remote and can be performed anywhere within the continental United States. Teleworking arrangements are subject to change based on the needs of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct needs analyses, learning gap assessments, and stakeholder interviews to define learning objectives and success metrics.

  • Create detailed design documentation (learning objectives, course outlines, case studies, facilitator guides, participant workbooks, assessments).

  • Design, develop, and publish e‑learning modules using Articulate Storyline/Rise 360 and AI‑enhanced video tools (e.g., Synthesia).

  • Build and facilitate virtual instructor‑led training (VILT) sessions; set up Zoom/Teams rooms, polls, quizzes, and whiteboards.

  • Apply adult‑learning theory and the ADDIE model to ensure instructional solutions align with business goals.

  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to develop implementation plans, timelines, and communication strategies.

  • Provide ongoing support to facilitators and learners, troubleshooting technical issues and updating content as policies or procedures change.

  • Maintain and refresh existing learning assets, performing version control and quality reviews.

  • Leverage generative‑AI (e.g., ChatGPT) to accelerate content drafting, localization, and knowledge‑check creation while ensuring compliance with brand and accessibility standards.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Learning Sciences, or a related field and 5+ years of relevant experience OR Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Learning Sciences, or a related field and 3+ years of relevant experience.

  • Proven experience designing and developing e‑learning, instructor‑led, blended, or performance‑support solutions.

  • Demonstrated mastery of Articulate Storyline or Rise 360.

  • Solid understanding of adult‑learning principles and the ADDIE (or similar) design methodology.

  • Experience moderating live virtual sessions (Zoom, Microsoft Teams) and using interactive features (polls, quizzes, whiteboards).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Learning Sciences, or a related field preferred.

  • Experience with AI‑video creation tools such as Synthesia.

  • Experience with Articulate 360 suite.

  • Familiarity with a corporate Learning Management System (e.g., Cornerstone OnDemand, SAP SuccessFactors).

  • Hands‑on experience using generative AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) for content generation and rapid prototyping.

  • Certifications in Instructional Design (e.g., ATD CPLP, ISTD) or related e‑learning authoring tools.

Primary Level Salary Range: $77,800.00 - $116,800.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
