Overview

We are seeking a Senior Linux Platform Engineer to lead the validation, engineering, and lifecycle management of Linux-based Point-of-Sale (POS) platforms.


This role requires expertise in Linux systems, strong troubleshooting skills, and a collaborative approach to ensure operational readiness across thousands of endpoints.

Responsibilities

  • Technically review and validate Linux POS images delivered by the regional team
  • Verify OS configuration, security hardening, and performance metrics
  • Ensure compatibility between POS hardware and peripherals
  • Lead lab validation prior to pilot testing and rollout
  • Manage and adapt Linux POS images for local requirements
  • Troubleshoot OS-level and hardware-level issues during testing phases
  • Validate openSUSE configurations on store backend servers
  • Ensure stable operation of GK virtual machines, K3S single-node clusters, SUSE Manager services, and In Store Middleware (ISMW) systems
  • Oversee SUSE Manager patching and distribution models across endpoints
  • Prevent configuration drift and ensure lifecycle governance for several thousand stores
  • Partner with architects to align solutions with security principles and technical targets
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams for operational readiness and monitoring integration
  • Facilitate test scenarios with project teams and ensure Linux platform stability during testing phases

Requirements

  • 5+ years of enterprise Linux engineering experience
  • Strong expertise with openSUSE or SUSE Linux Enterprise systems
  • Proven experience designing and maintaining Linux images
  • Qualifications in SUSE Manager or equivalent lifecycle management tools
  • Background in operating Linux at scale, supporting 100+ endpoints minimum
  • Competency in troubleshooting across OS, drivers, and hardware
  • Fluent communication skills in English at a B2+ level

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with JavaPOS (v17) standards
  • Experience in retail, POS, or store-edge environments
  • Showcase of working with lightweight Kubernetes, e.g., K3S
  • Expertise in managing virtualization environments on Linux
