About the role

As a DevOps Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing, operating, and scaling a cloud-native infrastructure that supports a large, enterprise-grade SaaS platform. Working in a fully remote, async-first environment, you’ll help ensure high availability, security, and performance across production and customer-specific environments.
You’ll work hands-on with modern cloud services, infrastructure as code, CI/CD automation, and observability tooling, partnering closely with engineering teams to enable reliable, scalable product delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure using Terraform across multiple environments (production, staging, sandbox, customer deployments).
  • Manage and operate cloud services across Google Cloud Platform and AWS, including containerized and serverless workloads.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Cloud Build, and automated Terraform workflows.
  • Develop reusable Terraform modules and manage infrastructure using GitOps principles.
  • Administer data infrastructure including MongoDB Atlas, Redis, BigQuery, and Cloud Storage, ensuring performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability using tools such as Google Cloud Monitoring, Sentry, Cloud Logging, and OpenTelemetry.
  • Respond to incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term preventative improvements.
  • Implement and enforce security best practices across infrastructure, networking, and access control.
  • Collaborate with software engineers on performance optimisation, scalability, and deployment strategies.
  • Create and maintain clear documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.
  • Mentor team members and promote DevOps best practices across the engineering organisation.

  • Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform, including services such as: Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, GKE, VPC networking, Load Balancers, Cloud Armor, IAM, Secret Manager, and security services
  • Advanced experience with Terraform, including: Infrastructure as Code for multi-environment systems, Module development, state management, and Terraform Cloud workflows
  • Experience with container technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes or serverless container platforms.
  • Strong CI/CD experience using GitHub Actions, Cloud Build, and automated deployment pipelines.
  • Experience administering MongoDB Atlas, including replication, backups, performance tuning, and network configuration.
  • Proficiency in Python and Bash for automation and tooling.
  • Solid understanding of monitoring, logging, and observability in cloud-native systems.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fully remote, async-first team.

Nice to have

  • Experience working with both GCP and AWS in hybrid or multi-cloud environments.
  • Exposure to GitOps tooling and practices.
  • Experience implementing distributed tracing and advanced APM solutions.
  • Familiarity with Datadog or similar monitoring platforms.
  • Experience supporting high-scale SaaS platforms with customer-specific deployments.
  • Interest in improving developer experience through tooling, automation, and platform improvements.
