The Role

We’re looking for a Site Reliability Platform Engineer (SRE) to help design, optimise, and scale Luupli’s infrastructure, with a specific focus on our mobile-first platform and Google Cloud environment.

This role combines deep technical skill, a passion for automation, and a proactive mindset to keep things fast, secure, and resilient, even as we scale. You'll collaborate closely with engineering, product, and security teams to ensure our mobile backend services run smoothly, securely, and reliably in the cloud.

This is a hands-on, equity-only role, ideal for someone who wants real ownership in a fast-moving startup, and is excited to shape how things are built from the ground up.

🔧 Key Responsibilities

🧱 Infrastructure Design & Automation

  • Architect, build, and maintain scalable infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) using Terraform.

  • Design cloud infrastructure components to support mobile traffic patterns and rapid iteration.

  • Enforce Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) principles for modular, versioned, reproducible systems.

🔍 Monitoring, SLOs & Incident Response

  • Define SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets that reflect real-world user experience.

  • Set up observability via Cloud Monitoring, Logging, and Trace.

  • Lead incident response and conduct root cause analysis for system outages or regressions.

⚡ Performance & Reliability Optimisation

  • Optimise system reliability, performance, and cost-efficiency across our mobile backend.

  • Implement proactive failover, autoscaling, and load balancing.

  • Identify and automate toil-heavy operational tasks.

🐍 Scripting & CI/CD Automation

  • Create tools and scripts in Python or Bash for deployment, scaling, and testing.

  • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like Cloud Build, Cloud Deploy, and GitHub Actions.

  • Implement canary/blue-green deployments for safe, zero-downtime releases.

🔐 Security & Compliance

  • Collaborate with security teams to ensure Luupli infrastructure is safe by design.

  • Apply best practices in IAM, secrets management, network policies, and audit logging.

  • Ensure cloud operations are aligned with GDPR, OWASP, and platform safety standards.

🚀 Deployment & Release Management

  • Support mobile backend services across environments (staging, production).

  • Help design progressive rollout strategies tailored for mobile feature updates.

📚 Documentation & Knowledge Sharing

  • Maintain up-to-date documentation for infra setup, workflows, and incident response.

  • Champion DevOps culture and share knowledge across engineering teams.

👩🏽‍💻 What You Bring

  • 4+ years in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or Cloud Platform roles.

  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services (Compute Engine, GKE/Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, IAM, etc.).

  • Proficiency in Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.

  • Strong scripting in Python and/or Bash for automation and tool development.

  • Familiarity with mobile backend systems, RESTful APIs, and mobile-first deployment challenges.

  • Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines for cloud-native applications.

  • Strong understanding of SLI/SLO frameworks, monitoring tools, and incident management.

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills in a remote-first team environment.

💸 Compensation

This is an equity-only position. There is no salary or cash compensation at this stage. Instead, you'll receive meaningful founding equity in Luupli, with the opportunity to help shape both the platform and the culture. When we secure funding, equity contributors will be prioritised for full-time paid positions and leadership roles.
