Essential Responsibilities
As the Plant Equipment Design Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for large equipment associated with the Reactor Vessel, such as FMCRD, HCU and Large Valves.
- Provide technical and managerial leadership for the development of the team’s technical and leadership talent/depth
- Oversee team performance, including hiring, training, mentoring and performance evaluations
- Plan, organize and manage the delivery of technical activities/tasks in support of engineering deliverables which include large equipment design and qualification
- Use high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering
- Provide leadership supporting performance and program management of assigned work and ensure on-time fulfillment of engineering commitments in accordance with contract requirements, business procedures, industry standards and regulatory agency guidelines
- Establish and maintain strong working relationship with other internal engineering team managers, business leaders, project managers and stakeholders
- Interface with external partners, customers, the NRC or other applicable country specific regulatory agency, as required on technical issues
- Provide guidance and manage internal/external resources to ensure the quality of deliverables, enable flexibility and improved cost positions
- Support commercial and marketing opportunities to develop new business opportunities
- Protect the Intellectual Property rights of the GVH
- Support GVH initiatives, process improvement and simplification
- Support GVH quality requirements, including participation in design reviews, initiating and responding to Corrective Actions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering Discipline (Mechanical, Nuclear or similar) from an accredited college or University
- Minimum 10 years of experience in technology or engineering role
- 3 years of experience Leading or Managing an Engineering Team
Eligibility Requirements:
- Ability and willingness to travel to domestic and international sites occasionally (up to 5 to 10%).
- The preferred work location for this role is at the GVH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC but highly qualified remote candidates will be considered.
- This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to U.S. export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of U.S. person status prior to employment.

- Master’s degree or PhD in engineering or technical discipline

- Understanding of nuclear industry and technology
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong customer mindset
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and cope under pressure
