PARTNER RELATIONS DIVISION

PURPOSE SUMMARY

As a member of the Church Engagement & Experiences Department, this external-facing role is primarily responsible for managing relationships with Supporting Church partners within a defined geographic region. The expected outcomes of this role are the formation of deeply collaborative partnerships benefiting each partners’ missional goals and contributing to the achievement of strategic & acquisition goals of our organization. This position reports to the Church Engagement Manager, functions within a team of peer relationship development professionals, and is a key contributor to the organizational mission of seeing children released from poverty in Jesus’ name.

WHAT YOU DO MATTERS

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain relationship with a group of regionally situated Churches for the purpose of fostering collaboration and attending to the resource needs of Compassion’s programmatic activities – Sponsorship, Survival, and Complementary Interventions.
  • Proactively research, prospect, contact, and engage in conversations toward relationship with new Church partners.
  • Implement engaging partnership strategies with agreed-upon and measurable relational landmarks, goals, and vision.
  • Regularly update Customer Relationship Management database with all relational activities (recording both activities completed & expected upcoming next steps).
  • In consultation with their manager, regularly review current activity and acquisition reports related to your portfolio and attend to notable trends.
  • Participate in the refinement, execution, and improvement of relational engagement strategies based on ‘real world’ experience and proven best practices.
  • Attend to maintaining current and accurate knowledge of programmatic activity and international development trends and comprehensively advise on these matters while representing Compassion to our partners & supporters.
  • Plan, execute, and present at Compassion-related events.
  • In collaboration with regional Volunteer Support Facilitators, enlist and prepare volunteers for Compassion presentations and events.
  • When appropriate, enlist Compassion Ambassadors, Speakers, Alumni, and the like for the purpose of presenting on behalf of Compassion.
  • Manage and submit reports for personal expenses, time sheets, and domestic travel.
  • Regularly meet with Church Engagement Manager for the purpose of reviewing current activity and progress toward team and individual targets.
  • Develop and execute customized multi-year, multi-product strategic engagement plans with key church and event partners, inclusive of the broad range of Compassion’s programmatic and advocacy interventions.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities and projects as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • A member in good standing of a local church community with theological positions consistent with those of Compassion Canada.
  • Self-starter attitude and aptitude balanced with an ability to function well as part of a dynamic interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships, with a track record of growing relationships and revenue.
  • Expertise in fundraising with in-depth knowledge of church trends, event logistics, and portfolio management.
  • Honesty and integrity, with the ability to be discreet and confidential.
  • Excellent communication, planning, organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Eagerness to find new and creative ways to increase Compassion’s influence.
  • Proven skill and proficiency in related fundraising and/or sales environments.
  • Ability to work at an advanced level with a variety of systems, including desktop and cloud-based applications, databases, report writing applications, and Customer Relationship Management software.
  • Willing and able to travel regularly regionally and domestically.
  • Strong administrative skills and not deterred by clerical work.
  • Experience working with multicultural/diaspora communities is a strong asset.

WHAT YOU BRING MATTERS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Degree or Professional Certification in Fundraising, Church Ministry, Sales, Marketing, or Public Relations is strongly preferred.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s licence in the province or territory of residence.
  • A minimum of (3) three to (5) five years’ experience in church engagement, event partnership management, fundraising, or a related field is required.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining effective partnerships with churches, event partners, or similar stakeholders is required.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple portfolios, including tracking outcomes and achieving revenue or engagement targets.
  • Experience mobilizing volunteers or teams to implement partnership, fundraising, or engagement initiatives is strongly preferred.
  • Competency in using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software, databases, report writing tools, and cloud-based collaboration platforms is required.
  • Awareness of and experience applying multicultural and diaspora community engagement strategies is a strong asset.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Remote-First Employment: This role does not require regular travel to the London, Ontario, Compassion Canada Head Office and is classified as ‘Remote’ with the staff member operating out of a home-based office.
  • This role may be assigned to support a specific Region or Province/Territory. When assigned, primary residence must be within that designated area as it is an essential requirement of the position.
  • Regular regional travel is required.
  • Hybrid or regional office access may be required occasionally for in-person team collaboration and planning sessions.
  • Digital-First Engagement: Relational, team, and organizational meetings, training, and workshops are primarily conducted online via video conferencing and similar tools.
  • Regular regional and occasional domestic travel, including overnight trips, is required for the purpose of relational development, events, and execution of the deliverables of the role.
  • A valid driver’s licence with access and ability to travel regionally and domestically is required.
  • Overtime may be required during peak periods or for special projects, events, or conferences.
  • This role operates within a dynamic, agile, and distributed workforce environment, requiring flexibility, independent decision-making, and effective time management.
