Emerging Travel Group is a travel-tech company running global platforms for booking hotels, flights, and transfers. Hiring a Senior Data Scientist (Availability) based in Cyprus.
Responsibilities:
- End-to-end ML ownership: lead ML projects from hypothesis and task formulation to delivering measurable business impact; maintain model quality in production.
- Cross-functional collaboration with Data Engineers to build production data pipelines and with Data Analysts to define metrics and design/evaluate A/B tests.
- Domain-specific problem solving: tackle challenges such as rate matching (deduplication of rates from 350+ suppliers), alternative search (RecSys & ranking for unavailable rates), multi-objective optimization (balancing margin and incident minimization), and cache freshness prediction.
- Develop, train, and validate machine learning models to test product hypotheses and improve the B2B user experience.
Requirements (Must Have):
- At least 4+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Scientist or ML Engineer.
- Business mindset: translate business objectives into clear ML tasks.
- Solid knowledge of classic ML and algorithms: gradient boosting (CatBoost/LightGBM), classification, regression.
- Experience with matching, recommendation systems and ranking approaches (KNN, FAISS, learning-to-rank, pointwise/pairwise/listwise).
- Confident experience with big data and massive datasets; excellent SQL skills and practical experience building pipelines with PySpark.
- Production-quality Python code, ability to write tests, and experience bringing models to production (Airflow and Python microservices).
Nice to have:
- Experience in TravelTech, e-commerce, or B2B APIs.
- Basic NLP skills and experience with text embeddings.
- Experience with dynamic pricing, multi-objective optimization, or Next Best Action systems.
- Strong foundation in probability theory and mathematical statistics for experiment design and model evaluation.
