introduction

Ling is a fast-growing language learning app laser-focused on the languages the world's biggest edtech companies ignore — Thai, Lao, Khmer, Burmese, and beyond. We're a tech company first: everything we build lives inside a mobile app with real product constraints, and we move fast. Thai is our flagship language, and we're building a curriculum that will set the standard for how our entire Asian language family is taught. If you've ever wished there was a genuinely good app for learning Thai — and its neighboring languages — this is your chance to build it.

We're looking for a Thai & Asian Languages Content Lead to own our Thai course end-to-end and drive curriculum design across our broader Asian language portfolio. Thai is the starting point, but the framework you build will be localized across related languages in the region — this is a high-leverage role with real scope to grow.

responsibilities

  • Own the Thai course entirely: quality, consistency, scope, and roadmap

  • Design a best-in-class Thai curriculum that is built to scale — structured so it can be adapted and localized across related Asian languages (Lao, Khmer, Burmese, and others in the Thai language family)

  • Establish curriculum design principles and content standards that the broader language team can work from

  • Write and review conversations, vocabulary sets, grammar notes, and cultural insights that are natural, engaging, and beginner-appropriate

  • Ensure grammar concepts are accurately represented and scaffolded within app constraints (short lessons, max 10 new words, one sentence structure per lesson)

  • Manage audio production workflows using tools like Narakeet

  • Manage content in Firebase and Lokalise

  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and other language specialists to ship on time

requirements

Must-haves:

  • Native Thai speaker with deep intuition for natural, contemporary usage
  • English at C2 or near-native level — you'll write, communicate, and collaborate entirely in English
  • Experience in edtech, curriculum development, instructional design, or language teaching
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced startup where priorities shift and autonomy is expected
  • Understanding that Ling is a tech product — content lives inside strict structural and UX constraints, not a textbook
  • An eye for systems: you think about how to build things that scale, not just solve the problem in front of you
Strong pluses:
  • Knowledge of or genuine interest in related Asian languages (Lao, Khmer, Burmese, or others in the region)
  • Hands-on experience with Narakeet, Firebase, or Lokalise (or comparable tools)
  • Familiarity with CEFR frameworks (A1–B1 range is our primary target)
  • Background teaching Thai to foreigners or designing materials for adult learners
  • Knowledge of tonal language pedagogy and the specific challenges non-native learners face
  • Prior experience coordinating or mentoring a small content or language team
You'll Thrive Here If You…
  • Take ownership instinctively — no one will micromanage this content
  • Can zoom out to curriculum strategy and zoom in to fix a single awkward sentence
  • Think in systems: you want to build frameworks others can follow, not just produce content
  • Get energized by constraints rather than frustrated by them
  • Want your work to reach a global audience of real learners, not sit in a Google Doc

how to apply

Please also include a 2 min introduction video where you briefly tell us about who you are and why you think this is the right fit for you.
