paytech is a fintech company operating payment infrastructure across isolated AWS accounts. The core stack is Oracle Database (AWS RDS SE2), APEX applications and high-throughput transactional pipelines. We are looking for an experienced DBA to ensure database stability under PCI DSS requirements.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize Oracle SQL / PL/SQL: complex queries, procedures, functions, triggers, packages; performance tuning using AWR, ASH, EXPLAIN PLAN.
  • Manage database schemas: DDL migrations, partitioning, indexes, ETL processes, and secure PL/SQL development.
  • Administer Oracle APEX environments: upgrades, workspace management, application support, and performance troubleshooting.
  • Manage AWS RDS Oracle instances: provisioning, configuration, monitoring, backups, snapshots, PITR, storage, and performance optimization.
  • Perform data migration and replication using Data Pump and AWS DMS (CDC).
  • Design and maintain backup/recovery processes; handle restore, schema recovery, and migration scenarios.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot database performance: workload analysis, blocking, deadlocks, CPU/IO issues, and maintenance activities.

Requirements (Must have):

  • 3+ years of DBA experience, at least 2 years on Oracle DB.
  • Strong Oracle SQL and PL/SQL skills (packages, cursors, exceptions, dynamic SQL).
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle APEX (administration or application development).
  • Practical experience with AWS RDS Oracle: provisioning, configuration, day-to-day management.
  • Solid understanding of backup and recovery strategies; experience with Data Pump.
  • Ability to read and interpret execution plans and AWR reports.
  • Comfortable working in a Linux environment (bash, cron, filesystem operations).

Nice to have:

  • Background in fintech or payment systems; familiarity with PCI DSS requirements.
  • Experience with Oracle DMS, Kinesis, or other CDC solutions.
  • Exposure to Terraform / Ansible for IaC-driven database infrastructure management.
  • Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, or similar observability tooling.
  • Understanding of ORDS architecture and REST integrations via APEX; experience upgrading Oracle APEX.
