About the role

As Development Lead, you will take ownership of the technical direction and delivery of a mobile app and supporting platform at a pivotal early stage of the business. This is a highly hands-on, product-focused role where you will act as the lead engineer and technical owner, working closely with the CEO to turn vision into a scalable, high-quality product.
This role suits someone who thrives in fast-paced startup environments, is passionate about building products end-to-end, and is excited by the opportunity to grow into a senior leadership position as the company scales. Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of the lead technical and development role within the business, responsible for delivering the mobile app and supporting platform end to end
  • Act as the technical owner of the product, driving feature delivery, workflow refinement, and ongoing bug fixing
  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of new features across mobile applications (iOS and Android) and supporting backend services
  • Build, release, and maintain production-ready mobile applications, managing Android and iOS deployments
  • Maintain and continuously improve existing workflows to ensure a high-quality, stable, and scalable user experience
  • Work in a tech-focused product ownership capacity, translating the CEO’s vision into practical, scalable technical solutions
  • Immerse yourself in the product, users, and problem space to proactively identify improvements and suggest innovative ways to evolve and grow the platform
  • Balance front-end and back-end development responsibilities (approximately 50/50)
  • Leverage AI-powered development tools, LLMs, and vibe-coding workflows to accelerate delivery while maintaining engineering quality
  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy, collaborating closely with the CEO and other contributors across the business
  • Lay the technical foundations for future scale, shaping engineering practices, standards, and decisions as the company grows

Requirements

  • React Native – 5+ years (Core): building and maintaining production-ready mobile applications
  • TypeScript – 4+ years (Core): strong experience writing clean, scalable, and maintainable code
  • Mobile deployment – 3+ years (Core): hands-on experience deploying apps to both Android and iOS app stores
  • AI-powered / LLM / vibe coding – 1+ year (Core): practical experience using AI-assisted coding tools (e.g. Replit or similar) to accelerate development
  • Databases – 2+ years (Important): experience working with databases to support application functionality and scalability
  • Strong ownership mindset with the confidence to make technical decisions independently
  • A tech-curious, confident “tech nerd” profile with genuine passion for building products
  • Strong product mindset, focused on user value, business outcomes, and long-term quality
  • Comfortable working in ambiguity, with pace and evolving priorities typical of early-stage startups
  • High level of commitment and passion for the project and its long-term success

Nice to have

  • Experience with AI coding tools beyond Replit, or strong interest in experimenting with emerging AI-assisted development workflows
  • Previous exposure to early-stage startups or being an early technical hire
  • Experience contributing to product direction or informal product ownership alongside engineering delivery
  • Interest in growing into a broader leadership role as the company scales, potentially including equity participation
  • Familiarity with rapid prototyping and iterative product development approaches
