As a Senior KDB+ Data Engineer, you will be working for our client, a leading player in the financial trading industry. You will contribute to the development of scalable analytics and reporting solutions by leveraging high-performance timeseries databases (kdb+/q). Your main responsibilities:
- Develop and optimise kdb+ processes and queries to support low-latency, high-throughput trading analytics.
- Build analytical and aggregation layers for consumption by downstream systems, APIs, and AI/ML models.
- Expose kdb+ data and analytics via APIs and services to various front-end and AI engines.
- Collaborate with AI/data engineering teams to provide structured datasets for machine learning training and inference.
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and capacity planning for production kdb+ environments.
- Ensure resilience, failover, and disaster recovery plans for market-facing trading systems.
- Partner with traders, quants, and product teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Follow internal policies on operational risk, data governance, and security, including auditability and access controls.
- Contribute to code reviews, establish best practices, and maintain high standards in kdb+ development.
You’re ideal for this role if you have:
- At least 5 years of experience working with large volume datasets in a production environment.
- Proven expertise in optimizing data queries and processes for low-latency, high-volume environments.
- Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux, scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python), and version control (Git).
- Experience within FX, Rates, Credit, Equities, or Commodities trading environments.
- Understanding of electronic trading, pricing, and risk management concepts.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills in production systems.
- Clear understanding of secure coding practices, data protection, and operational risk principles.
It is a strong plus if you have:
- Prior experience with kdb+ or time-series databases.
- Experience supporting AI/ML or advanced analytics platforms.
- Knowledge of anomaly detection, signal generation, or other time-series analytics.
- Background in global investment banking or electronic trading firms.
Language Required for the role:
- Fluent English, with good command of technical and business communication.
