Alpaca is hiring a Senior Analytics Engineer (remote).

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data models using dbt and SQL to support monthly financial reporting and near-real-time operational metrics.
  • Establish and enforce best practices for data modelling, development, testing, and monitoring to ensure data quality and cent-level precision.
  • Collaborate with finance, operations, customer success, and marketing to understand requirements and deliver reliable data products.
  • Create repeatable patterns for integrating data models with BI tools and reverse ETL processes to enable consistent metric reporting.
  • Champion robust change management, source control, code reviews, and data monitoring as products and data evolve.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in analytics engineering or data engineering with a strong focus on the transformation (T) in ELT.
  • Proven track record of owning data products end-to-end and applying analytics/data engineering best practices for quality and scalability.
  • Experience improving data warehouse performance and ETL efficiency; ability to work with ambiguity and take ownership with minimal oversight.

Technical skills: dbt, SQL, Python, ELT, Postgres, Iceberg, Semantic Layer modelling (Cube, dbt Semantic Layer), CI/CD, Git, BI tools, reverse ETL, OLTP/OLAP query optimization, data monitoring.
