You will be a key member of the Database Administration function, partnering closely with CloudOps, Engineering, and Security teams.

Your mission is to ensure the stability, performance, scalability, and security of the cloud-hosted database systems that power the company’s mission-critical SaaS applications. This role focuses heavily on AWS RDS and Aurora, specifically managing Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL, with secondary support for Oracle environments

What you will do:

  • Cloud Administration: Support and evolve AWS RDS and Aurora environments, managing day-to-day operations including patching, upgrades, and maintenance windows.
  • Performance Optimization: Drive query tuning, indexing strategies, and configuration adjustments to ensure databases meet strict application SLAs.
  • Resiliency & Recovery: Design, implement, and rigorously test backup, restore, and disaster recovery (DR) procedures to meet defined RTO/RPO targets.
  • Incident Management: Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues related to replication, storage, and connectivity with minimal customer impact.
  • Security & Compliance: Apply industry-leading security practices, including encryption (at rest/in transit), access controls, and comprehensive auditing.
  • Collaboration & Automation: Partner with Engineering on schema changes and architectural decisions while automating routine tasks to build a robust library of runbooks and standards.
  • Modernization: Support database migrations and help the team adopt and optimize new managed AWS database capabilities.

What you bring:

  • Professional Experience: 5–7 years of experience in database administration or database-focused engineering roles.
  • Technical Mastery: Deep hands-on expertise with Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL in production environments (HA/DR, performance tuning, and troubleshooting).
  • Cloud Proficiency: Proven experience administering databases on AWS RDS and/or Aurora, including familiarity with parameter groups, option groups, and CloudWatch monitoring.
  • Database Fundamentals: A strong understanding of database security, access control, and safe data-handling procedures.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, high attention to detail, and effective communication skills for collaborating across a diverse global team.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Nice if you have:

  • Specialized AWS Expertise: Advanced experience designing high-availability patterns specifically within managed AWS database environments.
  • Multi-Platform Knowledge: Working knowledge of Oracle databases, particularly within AWS-managed environments.
  • Certifications: Professional credentials such as AWS Certified Database – Specialty, Microsoft SQL Server certifications, or PostgreSQL certifications.
  • Operational Excellence: Experience with advanced monitoring/observability tools and a proactive approach to incident response.
