At EPAM Malaysia, we are looking for a Quality Engineer Manager with a strong consulting mindset to join our management team. This role goes beyond test team leadership, you will work directly with clients to understand business and technology challenges, advise on pragmatic quality strategies and influence stakeholders to adopt modern, AI-enabled quality practices.

You will play a critical role in presales, solution shaping and delivery, partnering with account teams, architects and engineers to define compelling quality propositions and ensure predictable, high-quality outcomes. As an Engineering Manager, you will also grow and lead teams, developing competencies and career paths.

Responsibilities

  • Define and own risk-based test strategies and lead the end-to-end execution of manual, automated, performance, security, accessibility, and data quality testing across distributed systems
  • Design and implement automation frameworks, CI/CD quality gates and robust test data strategies to enable reliable, repeatable testing in complex environments
  • Serve as a trusted quality advisor to clients by driving discovery workshops, assessing current architectures, and influencing stakeholders to adopt modern, AI-enabled quality practices
  • Support RFPs and presales engagements by defining delivery approaches, estimating team structures, and creating compelling proposal content that demonstrates how AI and automation reduce risk and time-to-market
  • Bring Generative AI approaches to the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including the evaluation of probabilistic outputs, LLM benchmarking, and RAG evaluation
  • Manage the full people leadership cycle for quality engineering teams, including hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and performance growth
  • Lead multi-team coordination by aligning quality activities, metrics and release readiness criteria across internal engineering teams and external vendors

Requirements

  • Senior-level expertise in Quality Engineering or Test Architecture with proven accountability for test strategy and delivery across complex systems
  • Strong consulting mindset with the ability to engage directly with clients, frame problems, advise on pragmatic solutions, and influence executive decision-making
  • Deep knowledge of test methodologies, risk-based testing, and non-functional testing, combined with the hands-on ability to design, review, and contribute code to automation frameworks
  • Experience applying Generative AI in testing or the SDLC, with a solid understanding of AI concepts relevant to quality engineering
  • Deep business domain expertise in at least one industry, with the ability to communicate domain-specific quality risks, particularly in highly regulated environments
  • Hands-on experience working in software development projects with a deep understanding of quality practices and close collaboration with developers and architects
  • Clear client-facing communication in English with the ability to produce structured, persuasive documentation and collaborate effectively across distributed teams
  • This role requires a willingness to travel occasionally to client offices within the APAC region (including Tokyo, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur)

  • Industry-standard certifications such as ISTQB, CMSQ, or equivalent test management credentials
  • Deep industry expertise in Financial Services (especially Capital Markets), Life Sciences, Healthcare, or Insurance
  • Public speaking experience at external conferences, meetups, or internal client events
