Position Summary:

The Sr. BI Report Developer is responsible for developing and maintaining reports, dashboards, and data visualizations; data modeling, planning, and deployment; and program documentation and data governance support activities. This position will assist in developing, maintaining, and supporting the business intelligence activities including data analysis, reporting efforts and architecture recommendations to elevate the company’s analysts and other end users who need timely, correct, and impactful information.

This role reports to the Sr. Data Engineering & Report Visualization Manager.

What You Will Do:

  • Partners with users across functions at various levels to understand their business process needs and design reporting to measure & drive results.

◦ Develops reports and dashboards via Power BI. ◦ Assists with report migration to Power BI and maintenance within SSRS.

  • Contributes to ongoing discussions around the evolution of electronic data warehousing within our enterprise environment.
  • Develops high-performance tabular models within Azure Analysis Services.
  • Creates and maintains DAX expressions that construct enterprise KPIs and measures.
  • Partners with developers, business, and IT team members to identify critical data and reporting needs.
  • Writes, tests, and troubleshoots complex T-SQL queries and stored procedures that support reporting and integration needs.
  • Writes T-SQL queries that support enterprise reporting.
  • Writes and maintains documentation on reporting and integration processes.
  • Participates in the design and execution of governance activities associated with ensuring data solutions architecture assurance and compliance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor’s degree in computer science, business, or related field is strongly preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered.
  • A minimum of six (6) years of experience with Power BI dashboard, visualization, and report development is required. This includes advanced data modeling and data shaping in Power BI (especially in conjunction w/ DAX).
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience with T-SQL work (strong knowledge of queries, joins, user-defined functions, and views).
  • Intermediate SSRS report development and maintenance.
  • Able to facilitate and execute the report development process from requirements gathering until the report is delivered to the end user. This includes report prototyping, Power BI report development, DAX creation, visualization design, QA with one of our QA analysts, and end user testing.
  • Knowledge and understanding of both relational database design and data warehouse star schema design and structure.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and collaboration, including mentoring others, leading initiatives or workstreams, contributing to best practices, and driving cross-functional outcomes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills, self-directed and able to handle multiple priorities with demanding timeframes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create a high-quality results-driven, team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to use discretion, make sound decisions, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours as needed and be available for off-hour support as part of an on-call rotation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and modern communication tools for virtual teams (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Slack).

Preferred:

  • Experience with Power BI CI/CD setup and use.
  • Experience with Power BI deployment pipelines.
  • Hands on exposure in Microsoft Azure Data Lakes, Azure Synapse Analytics, or Azure Analysis Services.
  • Use of version control (Azure DevOps/GIT Methodology).
  • Understanding of regulated industries work such as telecommunications, finance, healthcare, or related businesses.
  • Experience with SCRUM methodologies and use of Jira.

Compensation:

$96,000 to $121, 000 plus 5% determined by competitive market analysis and internal equity considerations. Final compensation will be based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and business needs.
