About the role: The Mid QA Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, building and maintaining automated test solutions using Playwright to cover web and API layers, integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines, and promoting automation best practices within the QA team. Works closely with developers, Product Owners and Manual QA colleagues.
Responsibilities:
- Analyse requirements and define test conditions suitable for automation.
- Design, implement and maintain automated functional and regression tests for web, API and other application layers.
- Create reusable test components, data builders and utilities.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD, monitor runs, investigate failures and report results.
- Log and manage defects, re-test fixes, and take quality ownership for selected features.
- Contribute to framework design, refactoring and continuous improvement of QA tooling.
- Follow data protection and information security guidelines when working with test data and environments.
Requirements:
- At least 3+ years focused on test automation at a mid-senior level.
- Strong hands-on experience with Playwright (page object models, fixtures, API testing, parallel execution).
- Proficient in JavaScript or TypeScript for automation scripting.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and using version control (e.g. Git).
- Experience with defect tracking and test management tools (e.g. Jira and test case management tools).
- Good analytical, communication skills and excellent written and spoken English.
Preferred:
- Experience architecting and scaling Playwright frameworks across large environments.
- Experience with Playwright API testing, REST clients (e.g. Postman) and contract testing approaches.
- Basic SQL for test data preparation and verification.
- Familiarity with performance/load testing concepts and tools (e.g. k6, Gatling).
- Experience mentoring junior automation engineers.
