Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated Jr. Cyber Security Engineer - Mobile with an interest in mobile application security (especially Android and iOS platforms) to support our security team. As a junior, you will assist in maintaining and improving the security posture of our mobile applications while gaining hands-on experience with real-world tools, environments, and best practices. This role is designed for learning and growth, with the potential to transition into a more senior role.
Responsibilities:
As a Junior, you will work under guidance from senior engineers on tasks such as:
- Assist in reviewing mobile application configurations and learning how to design secure mobile architectures.
- Support basic mobile security tasks such as reviewing app permissions, checking secure storage implementations, and monitoring mobile-related security alerts.
- Help with conducting preliminary mobile application security assessments (static and dynamic analysis) and documenting findings.
- Assist in routine reviews of mobile codebases and third-party SDKs to identify common misconfigurations or vulnerabilities.
- Participate in monitoring mobile security tools and helping respond to low-priority alerts or incidents under supervision.
- Work with mobile development teams to gain exposure to integrating security controls into the mobile CI/CD pipeline (code signing, dependency scanning, security testing).
- Stay updated on Android/iOS security fundamentals, mobile OS updates, and emerging mobile threat trends.
- Contribute to maintaining mobile security documentation, secure coding guidelines, and procedures.
- Support team activities such as preparing training material or secure mobile development awareness content.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Completed a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or related field.
- Basic understanding of mobile platforms and app development concepts (both Android/iOS knowledge is a plus but not required).
- Familiarity with fundamental security concepts (authentication, authorization, encryption, vulnerabilities, etc.).
- Interest in learning mobile security topics such as certificate pinning, secure storage (Keystore/Keychain), app permissions, and platform hardening.
- Basic understanding of common mobile application vulnerabilities based on OWASP Mobile Top 10 (e.g., insecure data storage, improper platform usage).
- Willingness to learn mobile app testing tools and reverse engineering basics.
- Willingness to learn security tools and understanding basic concepts of security events.
- Good problem-solving skills and eagerness to work in a collaborative environment.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to ask questions.
Nice to Have (Not Required):
- Hands-on exposure through school projects or self-learning with tools like MobSF, Frida, Burp Suite, apktool, Objection, etc.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, Bash) or basic automation.
- Introductory knowledge of compliance or security frameworks (ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR) or standards like OWASP MASVS.
- Certifications such as CEH, CompTIA Security+, eMAPT, or other entry-level certs (not mandatory).
