Senior Service Engineer IS- Remote
Service Engineers work in partnership with developers, testers, and program managers, (typically early in the development process) to design, operate, grow, and improve large-scale, computer-based services offered to IS, non-IS and clinical caregivers. Their technical skills are on par with their Development, Test, and Program Management counterparts.
Must‑Have Skills (Required to Succeed)
- 5+ years of experience supporting on‑prem and cloud infrastructure, including operating systems, networking, and platform services in complex, highly available environments
- 3+ years of experience automating systems and workflows using PowerShell, Python, or other comparable tools.
- 5+ years of experience in application architecture, implementation, and ongoing support within enterprise environments.
- Proven ability to plan, execute, and deliver small projects or initiatives end‑to‑end, including requirements gathering, prioritization, stakeholder communication, and delivery accountability.
- Proven ability to diagnose and permanently resolve complex, cross‑system issues using root cause analysis, telemetry, metrics, and failure‑mode thinking. Ownership mindset focused on long‑term stability, not just incident resolution.
Preferred Skills (Highly Valuable)
- 3+ years of experience supporting enterprise voice and communication platforms in high‑availability, mission‑critical environments.
- 2+ years of experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, including service metrics, capacity planning, resilience testing, and disaster recovery.
- 3+ years of experience supporting systems used in clinical workflows, with an understanding of patient care impact, downtime risks, regulatory considerations, and caregiver expectations.
- 3+ years of experience applying data analysis to guide prioritization and service improvements, using SQL, Power BI, or similar tools to communicate insights to technical and business stakeholders.
- Proven ability to collaborate across globally distributed teams with differing priorities, coordinating work through clear communication, documentation, and alignment in a large enterprise environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering.
- 5 years of Related experience; more preferred.
- Experience in automation, specifically related to deployment, recovery, or other manual processes.
- Experience with n-tier solutions.
- Experience with resilience modeling (failure mode analysis) and ability to simulate service outages for point solutions (automated) and platforms (manually).
- Experience influencing software engineering team members in translating customer and technical requirements into service architecture to meet Quality of Service Expectations.
- Experience leading and representing the Service in backlog discussions and standups to establish appropriate prioritization of Live Site requirements.
- Good experience leveraging data and metrics to drive behavior, process, and priority decisions. Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Experience in problem solving using systematic procedures and investigating problems utilizing root cause analysis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a Healthcare environment.
