Overview
We are looking for a Chief Software Engineer (AdTech) to design and ship ultra-low-latency ad serving systems that run on the hot path. You will lead technical direction across ad serving, SSAI, RTB, and identity while staying hands-on in code and mentoring senior engineers. Apply now to help maximize auction economics by balancing latency, cost, and correctness.
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement hot-path code as a hands-on individual contributor
- Define technical direction for ad serving, SSAI, RTB and identity through design docs you author, defend, and revise as constraints change
- Coach engineers by raising the standard on code review, production rigor, and how the team evaluates latency, cost, and correctness
- Own auction-level economics and quantify the revenue-per-thousand-impression impact of latency and AWS spend on the ad path
- Represent the company's technical stance with partners such as GAM, SSPs, DSPs, measurement vendors and IAB Tech Lab
- Set hiring standards for future engineers and participate in the loop for every senior+ AdTech hire
- Drive production ownership for systems that serve hundreds of millions of ad requests per day
- Make and stand behind decisions to reject features that threaten latency, correctness, or unit economics
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 5 years within an SSP, DSP, ad server, ad exchange, or CTV/OTT platform
- Demonstrated production ownership of a platform serving at least hundreds of millions of ad requests per day
- Deep expertise in at least one hot-path systems language (Go, Java, C++ or Rust), plus practical comfort in another
- Strong fluency in JavaScript, Node.js and TypeScript for tooling, control-plane services, and the Prebid wrapper layer
- Working-spec-level mastery of OpenRTB (2.x and 3.x), VAST (3 and 4), VPAID, VMAP and SIMID
- Hands-on SSAI experience covering pod construction, manifest manipulation, ad stitching, and failure modes when delivering ads in HLS or DASH
- Proven background in header-bidding architecture, including Prebid.js client-side, Prebid Server, wrapper design, and price-floor strategy
- Engineer-level command of Google Ad Manager APIs, the line-item and key-value model, and known abstraction edge cases
- AWS at-scale experience with EC2/EKS, ECS and Lambda, plus DynamoDB, Kinesis, MSK/Kafka and CloudFront
- Solid distributed systems knowledge across queueing theory, backpressure, idempotency, hot-key mitigation and multi-region failover
- Strong FinOps instinct with clear understanding of stack cost per thousand ad requests
- Practical ability to use React where it intersects with ad-ops surfaces
- Advanced proficiency in English (C1+)
