Bad Robot Games (remote-first) is looking for a QA Manager to build, scale, and lead the studio QA function across projects, ensuring quality for upcoming PlayStation and PC launches.

Key responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and plan timelines and milestone deliveries; coordinate focus testing and playtesting.
  • Create and implement comprehensive test plans; evaluate bug write-ups and validate builds for playtests and events.
  • Set up and coordinate internal and external testing sessions; manage external partners for testing and playtesting.
  • Develop the QA team: hiring, performance reviews, career development, and work allocation.
  • Own QA objectives, milestones, craft standards, best practices, documentation, and onboarding processes.
  • Report to executive stakeholders on quality status, risk, and team capacity; collaborate with Production on priorities and timelines.
  • Utilize Jira for bug assignment, reports, dashboards, and cross-discipline communication; troubleshoot technical issues and assist with dev kit setup and bug replication on PlayStation and PC.

Key qualifications:

  • 8+ years QA experience in the game industry with at least one AAA title shipped and credit as QA Lead/Manager or equivalent.
  • Deep Jira expertise (reports, dashboards, workflows) and experience with PlayStation and PC testing, including certification and submission (TRC) processes.
  • Hands-on experience with Unreal Engine and its build pipeline and debugging tools.
  • Experience hiring, mentoring, and managing QA teams; establishing QA best practices at team or studio level; scaling testing in a remote studio environment.
  • Strong understanding of test methodologies: functional, automation, end-to-end, accessibility, performance, black box, white box, and cross-platform testing.

Conditions & other: Remote-first company; roles require up to 10% air travel. Compensation ranges are based on California market rates regardless of US work location. Bonuses: experience with live service/multiplayer, automated testing frameworks in Unreal, performance profiling and optimization testing on console and PC.
