••••••••• is hiring a backend-leaning Tech Lead to lead a team of 3–4 engineers and own the technology for part of its product. This hands-on leadership role is approximately 50% software development and architecture, and 50% team enablement.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to architecture, development, code reviews, and important technical projects.
- Lead the team’s effectiveness, technical quality, and delivery; support engineers’ development through 1:1s and feedback.
- Work with Product Managers to understand customer problems, shape solutions, and set priorities.
- Set technical direction while enabling engineers to own decisions; remove blockers and identify delivery risks.
- Improve engineering practices and explore AI-assisted development.
- Contribute to hiring through technical interviews and candidate conversations.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience as a Senior or Staff Engineer, with ongoing hands-on software development.
- Substantial experience with Java or another JVM language.
- At least 2 years of leadership experience as a Tech Lead, Engineering Manager, or project and architecture lead.
- Strong delivery skills, product-mindedness, clear communication, and experience in fast-paced startups.
- Comfortable with regular in-person collaboration in Berlin; this is not a remote-only role.
Kotlin and AWS experience are a plus. The backend runs on Kotlin/Quarkus. The broader stack includes AWS, TypeScript, React, Next.js, and LangGraph.
