Headshot Agency is seeking a MySQL/MariaDB DBA for its client, a licensed stockbroker headquartered in Cyprus with 160 employees and 8 development teams. This is a new role on the Infrastructure team, working with MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure high availability, performance, and security of database systems in a high-load production environment.
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable database solutions, including replication, clustering, and data migration.
- Monitor performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimise queries and configurations.
- Manage backup and recovery strategies, routine maintenance, upgrades, patching, and capacity planning.
- Troubleshoot incidents and collaborate with Development and DevOps teams to improve system architecture and database efficiency.
- Contribute to automation and infrastructure-as-code practices.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience as a Database Administrator in high-load or large-scale environments.
- Hands-on experience with MySQL, MariaDB, or Percona.
- Knowledge of database architecture, replication, performance tuning, query optimisation, backup and recovery, data integrity, and security best practices.
- Knowledge of Linux systems, including Debian or Ubuntu.
- Experience with Ansible or similar automation tools.
- PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or other database experience is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a distributed team.
