Kake is hiring a Senior Backend Go Engineer to join the technology team building digital and streaming products for a leading global sports and entertainment company. The role focuses on commerce systems for payments, subscriptions, billing, taxes, refunds, and high-traffic direct-to-consumer products.
Responsibilities:
- Lead architecture and technical direction for commerce capabilities.
- Design and build scalable, secure APIs and event-driven systems.
- Develop payment, refund, dispute, reconciliation, and subscription lifecycle functionality.
- Build reliable systems that handle retries, out-of-order webhooks, idempotency, and eventual consistency.
- Own production systems, including incident response, root-cause analysis, and improvements.
- Write production code with meaningful test coverage and automation; mentor engineers and collaborate with stakeholders across a distributed team.
- Evaluate commerce technologies and improve conversion, reliability, and operational efficiency.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience focused on scalable APIs and event-driven systems.
- Strong proficiency in Go and experience with payment or commerce platforms such as Stripe, Adyen, or Braintree.
- Strong software architecture and large-scale system design skills.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, ideally DynamoDB and Redis; AWS or another major cloud provider; containers and Kubernetes.
- Professional experience using generative AI tools in software development and operating production systems.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, ownership, communication, and collaboration skills.
Nice to have: Experience with streaming platforms, high-availability e-commerce systems, live-event traffic spikes, subscription lifecycles, and commerce features integrated into video streaming.
