Join The Vault, an MPC-based crypto custody platform, as a hands-on Staff Engineer. Design and ship critical backend components including policy engines, signing orchestration, key lifecycle workflows, recovery flows, approvals, audit trails, and multi-tenant wallet and account services. Lead cross-cutting initiatives through RFCs, design reviews, and code; build reliable high-load SaaS systems; own features from design through rollout and on-call; and mentor senior engineers.
Requirements: 10+ years of backend engineering experience, including 3+ years at Staff level or equivalent. Strong computer science fundamentals, ownership of production systems, and experience building high-load, multi-tenant SaaS. Production experience with a modern systems language such as Go, Rust, Java, or C++; hands-on Go experience or readiness to ramp up quickly. Experience with distributed systems, gRPC/HTTP, queues or streams, relational databases, Kafka/NATS or equivalents, testing, observability, and production-grade AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex.
Nice to have: Experience with custody, wallets, MPC, HSM, TEE, key management, Ledger, EVM, Bitcoin, Kubernetes, service mesh, regulated environments, and security reviews.
