Develop backend services for a social sports gaming platform offering predictions, leaderboards, badges, sweepstakes, and loyalty rewards.
Responsibilities:
- Own backend services from design and development through deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
- Design and maintain scalable, high-performance distributed services, supporting millions of users with low latency and high availability.
- Own APIs, data pipelines, message brokers, and caching; optimize throughput, latency, fault tolerance, and resilience.
- Implement unit, integration, and performance tests; improve development processes, observability, monitoring, and logging.
- Collaborate with product, frontend, and DevOps teams, and mentor junior engineers through reviews and knowledge sharing.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of Python backend development experience.
- Experience with Django or FastAPI, asyncio, Apache Kafka, and distributed systems or microservices.
- Experience with Docker, a cloud provider (preferably AWS), SQL databases (especially PostgreSQL), CI/CD, and test automation.
- Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
- Strong problem-solving and code review skills; comfortable working in Agile teams.
- English level B2 or higher.
Nice to have: Kubernetes; systems supporting 1M+ users; NoSQL; event sourcing or CQRS; React; Flink or NiFi; Terraform; sports or betting industry experience.
