On behalf of our client, we are seeking an Expert Embedded DevOps Engineer to take technical ownership of the build, release, and automation ecosystem supporting embedded Linux solutions. In this role, you will evaluate existing development infrastructure, eliminate workflow bottlenecks, scale hardware-integrated test automation, and implement modern AI-assisted engineering practices.
We are looking for a proactive technical leader who operates comfortably with high autonomy and brings deep expertise in embedded toolchains, Linux architectures, and robust CI/CD deployment.
Key Responsibilities
Architect, optimize, and maintain scalable CI/CD pipelines tailored for embedded Linux environments.
Assume complete ownership of Jenkins infrastructure, automated build orchestration, and firmware release processes.
Connect and manage automated verification frameworks, specifically Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems and regression suites.
Improve build determinism, system reliability, and testing repeatability across cross-compilation toolchains.
Provision and automate development/test environments using containerization, configuration management, and infrastructure-as-code principles.
Identify efficiency bottlenecks in C/C++ embedded engineering lifecycles and implement concrete improvements.
Implement AI and LLM-assisted workflows to accelerate log diagnostics, automated triage, and developer productivity.
Requirements
Deep CI/CD & Linux Mastery: Extensive experience architecting Jenkins pipelines, managing Git workflows, and working with core Linux system administration.
Embedded Toolchains: Proven background in Embedded Linux, cross-compilation mechanics, and C/C++ development environments.
Build Frameworks: Strong practical experience working with Yocto Project, BitBake, or equivalent embedded build ecosystems.
Automation & Scripting: High proficiency in scripting with Python, Bash, and Groovy.
Infrastructure & Containers: Solid track record using Docker, Ansible, and automated infrastructure provisioning.
Hardware Test Integration: Demonstrated experience connecting continuous integration systems with physical hardware test rigs (HIL).
AI Integration: Practical experience deploying AI/LLM tooling within DevOps or developer workflow contexts.
Autonomy: Proven ability to assess technical debt independently and drive infrastructure initiatives with minimal supervision.
Languages: Fluent English (mandatory).
Nice to Have
Prior experience in smart metering, IoT ecosystems, or safety-critical/regulated embedded products.
Familiarity with secure software supply chains, cybersecurity compliance, or certifications (e.g., BSI, Common Criteria).
German language proficiency (communicative level).
Residence in or convenient commute distance to Rostock, Germany.
